Good product....but not reliable Jul 26, 2010 This product is good in concept. Bought it with high hopes. But it is not at all reliable.very flaky. Would freeze very often. Remote control keeps acting funny. Like mentioned in other reviews, albums with cover graphics takes forever to load, I had close to 70g worth of music. Couldn't use the dock even for a day without freezing. It was frustrating. Had to return it back to the vendor who gladly refunded my money.
Better than the Onkyo DSA3 Jun 04, 2010 I had purchased the Onkyo DSA3 for my 5th generation iPod with video. I could never get the video to work with that dock, so couldn't use the onscreen menus or watch any video from my iPod on my HD television.
I returned the Onkyo dock, did some more research, and finally settled on the Tekkeon NavDock. I am glad I did.
Connecting the Navdock was simple and straightforward, thanks to the detailed instructions that come with the dock. Tekkeon also offers extensive product support for the NavDock on their website.
Everything works as advertised. The onscreen menus are presented in a much nicer format than Onkyo's text only menus, and the album art is a plus.
Video resolution was surprisingly good for recorded television shows and movies. I originally connected the dock to the television using composite connections, but switched to S-Video for the video input. You have to supply your own S-Video cable if you go this route.
The dock comes complete with a handy remote that controls your iPod from across the room, and your iPod charges whenever it's seated in the dock, whether the dock is on or off.
Exactly what I was looking for. Mar 27, 2010 It was dead simple to set up. The audio is great, and as long as you use a s-video cable the video looks fine. It works with my iPod Classic 5G and my old Nano. No issues with the classic, but I found that if the album art is enabled in the screen saver on the Nano, then there is a one second delay at the beginning of each song. As soon as I disabled the album art from the screen saver, then no delay. Excellent product and I will recommend it to anyone.

Not much to knock on this TEK Dock Feb 17, 2010 Overall, I love this dock. I had one that I used with my 5th gen video iPod that wasn't as easy to use or as feature packed. Sound is great, the interface is easy to use, and it is very easy to set up.
Some people have complained about the loading time for some of the graphics and lists, but it seems reasonable to me, and not much longer than on the iPod itself.
The one drawback is minor, and that is that it won't "wake up" the iPod from when it is in powersaving mode. It seems like it should be able to do that, since my alarm clock which has an iPod dock will. Other than that it's great!
Excellent IPOD dock Jan 22, 2010 Just got the Tekkeon Navdock today and had it running within minutes on my Nano 4g (the square one). See below for other IPODs I tested it on.
This dock is intuitive in every respect. Wish TV remotes were as friendly.
MY CONNECTIONS: Navdock via audio cables to a Yamaha receiver; Navdock video via S-Video cable to Sony Bravia 42" LCD.
MY IPODS: 4G NANO ( the square one); 8G IPOD TOUCH 1st GEN; 32GB IPOD TOUCH 2nd GEN. All three worked. All played music, video and showed album cover art on the TV menu. The only hiccup was with the 8gb IPOD 1st Gen which required a redocking (only once) to show video. Although Tekkeon says IPOD TOUCH works with limited functionality -- on the units I tested -- everything worked. I think (just an opinion) the key is to connect the video to the TV with S-VIDEO; otherwise the album artwork takes so long to load...it just doesn't. Could be the same issue if you are getting erratic video playback.
PLAYING MUSIC THROUGH A RECEIVER. The Tekkeon website doesn't go into detail about connections to a receiver, and neither does the instruction manual. But if you patch the audio cables to your receiver (instead of your TV) you'll be amazed at the sound. Just pick some component input that isn't used on your receiver (I used "CD"). So, in this example, you patch the left/right audio from the Tekkeon to the left/right audio CD INPUT on the receiver. Then select "CD" on your receiver when playing. Voila! The sound is so good that if you have an Ipod touch with a ton of music (like I do), you'll be doing fine to get this dock just for music.
THE SOUND YOU GET. Read this carefully; it will save you grief. Other posters are right that you must check a couple of things on your IPOD to get great music. The IPOD music level (in settings) must be set at MAXIMUM. The IPOD Sound Check setting should be OFF. Sound check on IPOD means it plays all songs at a relative constant volume (but it messes up the IPOD playback on your receiver). Is the IPOD Equalizer on? What sounds fine on earphones may not on a receiver; best to turn it off, probably. One final note. Volume is controlled BOTH from your receiver and the Tekkeon remote. I thought I had a sound problem until I played with the best combination of the two controls. TIP: Set the receiver volume low. Put the remote volume at max. Now turn the Receiver volume up until it is as loud as you would ever want to hear it. Now, control the volume through the remote.
VIDEO: Use an S-Video connector (a good one) and you'll get decent video even on a big screen. I have a 42" Sony Bravia, and music videos look fine. The instruction manual falls down a bit here. It says 'select the proper mode' on your TV. Translation: the S-Video input will usually appear on your TV menu list as Video 1, Video 2 etc... Have your Tekkeon dock powered on and connected to your TV before trying to find the S-Video connection on your TV menu. It'll be real clear when you find it: the screen has a TEKKEON log.
When I was shopping for a receiver, I almost upgraded to a unit that had ipod capability for its proprietary ipod dock --- except that their unit wouldn't show video or cover art. I'm glad I went this route. THE LESSON: you don't need a recent model receiver for this dock to work fine. But you do need an S-Video cable for the video to work well.
ONE TEENY NEGATIVE: as others have commented, everything is very solid and rich looking - except the toggle switch on the remote. Too bad, because that's a key element on using the unit. It feels flimsy. I took away one star for that because if the toggle switch goes -- you basically have a paperweight. Guess this is one case where I'll fill out and keep the warranty card.
How much do I like this product? First review I've written on many Amazon purchases. Just great to rediscover your music library and work those big speakers from your Ipod playlist (can't do that with CD's). How cool is that?
