Caution: Some units lack AM Dec 17, 2009 This is a pretty good unit for the money, although the controls are slightly awkward to operate and I wish the clock display had a dimmer instead of just on/off. But I wish I had known before I bought it that some Audiovox CE170CR units do not have the AM tuner. This distinction is not mentioned on the box, nor can you tell by looking at the unit since both types have the AM indicator on the display. If the function button skips AM and the printed manual does not mention AM, it's the one without the AM tuner. Also, my iPod 4th gen needs a reset to turn on after I remove it from the dock on the CE710CR, even when everything is turned off prior to removing it, as instructed.
Very Fine Device Oct 15, 2009 I was looking for a clock radio with a digital FM tuner and good sound at a good price. This clock-radio meets those requirements. Preset stations was a bonus. Decent instruction booklet. User interface is well designed--some of the buttons work differently with the radio on than when off (set the clock with the radio off).
There's an intermittent problem with the ipod (I have a 1G Touch) dock I haven't figured out yet. After the iPod has been playing for awhile I begin to get a bleed of static or digital noise or a slow (sorta like) "clicking"--it affects both the radio and the iPod. When the iPod is removed the radio sound quality returns to normal. The problem doesn't happen when the iPod Touch is connected to the built-in (!!!) aux RCA jack. I suspect the iPod is putting out digital noise when it is fully charged. Just a guess.
If it hadn't of had the ipod dock, I'd have been completely delighted with the radio. Now I feel like something was taken away (flawless iPod touch integration) and I'm pouting.
Did not include the FM antenna wire the instructional booklet said was packaged with the radio. [Whoops. Found it on the floor; the antenna wire was packed. My bad.]
preset stations Oct 06, 2009 I'bve been frustrated because online radio doesn't work well and is a few seconds behind the live radio feed. the small radio I've been using has a lot of static and doesn't stay on the station very well. I love this radio and the option for preset stations.
Got as christmas gift ...now want one too Sep 12, 2009 It is very multifunctional and easy to set up. I got it for my husband and evidentially will get one for myself. Really a great product.
